  • MInDS paper becomes the recipient of the 2019 ASME Energy Harvesting Best Paper Award. The award was announced in the EHTC Spring 2019 meeting and will be awarded in ASME SMASIS 2019. Congratulations to Marjan and Ahmed!

  • Aarushi becomes one of the 6 finalists (out of ~50 submissions) for the ASME/SPIE Best Student Paper Award and receives honorable mention for her presentation. Congrats!

  • MInDS attends 2019 SPIE Smart Structures/NDE Conference (Denver, CO) with two technical papers.

  • MInDS is awarded an industrial based CEHMS NSF/IUCRC grant - Phase 1, for applying high-power acoustic energy transfer systems in distributed automotive sensing.

  • MInDS research, "Study takes a unique approach to new generation of smart drug delivery carriers," has been live on VT News and featured as top news in the daily email.

  • MInDS is awarded an ORNL Grant for a research focusing on modeling, design, and testing of piezoelectric transducers used in ultrasonic drying. 

  • MInDS is awarded ICTAS Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grant for a research partnership with Hampton University.

  • MInDS is awarded ICTAS REU Grant focusing on acoustic cell sorting research. 

  • Aarushi receives the conference-level Best Student Paper Award (out of 6 symposia) in the 2017 ASME SMASIS Conference and is honored in the conference Pioneer Banquet. This work is in collaboration with MultiSMArt Laboratory (Dr. Mirzaeifar) at Mechanical Engineering Department. Congrats!

  • MInDS attends STEMABILITY Summer camp; STEMABILITY is a summer camp that aims to help high school students with disabilities to make the transition from high school to college.   

  • MInDS in collaboration with Dr. Rafael Davalos and Dr. Billie Lepczyk from School of Performing Arts is awarded ICAT SEAD Mini Grant focuses on "Dancing motion of bubbles/solid particles in microfluidic channels; through acoustic cell sorting". 

  • MInDS in collaboration with Dr. Sunny Jung is awarded Alpha Foundation for the Improvement of Mine Safety and Health Grant (2017-2018) titled "Collecting mine dust particles with liquid-coated vibrating meshes, Phase 1".

  • MInDS is awarded ICTAS Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grant; this grant is given by Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science at VT to build direct faculty-to-faculty research partnerships between MInDS and Hapmton University as a part of HBCUs under-represented college programs. One visiting student from Hampton University and two undergraduate students from MInDS are involved in this research project. 

  • MInDS attends 11th Energy Harvesting Workshop in Arligton, Virginia with a technical presentation.  

  • Omid is awarded a Fall 2016 Graduate Research Development Program (GRDP) award. Congrats!
